It ain’t sugar. It’s salt and it’s disgusting, I’d go as far to say it’s packaging is deceptively deceiving.

Yay! For the New Year! The best thing about the new year for me is the New Calendar and the annual Switch-a-roo! What is the Calendar Switch-a-roo you ask?
Well, do you have problems remember birthdays? Anniversaries? Any holiday??! Well the Calendar Switch-a-roo is the cure all for all those brain deficits!

Side Note: The past two years we’ve had the “official” Ansel Adam’s calendars, and we were surprised to find that yes, they are cheapskates they repeated the same images on several months! Sometimes the same months! Although it was pretty cool to find in the 2009 calendar a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge, and then in 2010 calendar a picture from the same spot, pre-bridge!

We took a nice long photo walk in Ashland’s Lithia Park a few weekends past! Etta chased ducks, we paused for multiple pictures and played in the park! The picture above is us on one of Lithia Park’s many bridges!
I’m relatively new to this blogging thing, both blogging myself and reading them! Angry Chicken has been one of my first & favorite blogs to follow! Last week she posted this Martha Recipe “Bread of the Monkey“, it looked like cinnamon heaven!
I had to make it!
So, Sunday morning after a fairly health breakfast, we made this indulgent pull-a-part delicacy. It is my first ever yeast recipe, and heaven’s I cooked professionally for years, somehow I never got around to making yeast breads.
WaLa! It was amazing, straight shot to cinnamon ecstasy!
My glaze was a little lighter than Martha’s & Angry Chicken’s but yummy none the less. I also had some problem with the yeast (I guess my water wasn’t warm enough the first time), my husband has some experience with the stuff, and as I was frantically searching my iphone for images of foamy yeast, he informed me that indeed, my yeast was NOT foaming, it was purely my imagination.

This shirt was her Christmas Present from Mama! I got the idea/insperation from this Etsy Store Happy Family, they make the cutest “Birthday” shirts that just say the kid’s age “1″ or “2″. My pocketbook can’t really afford to buy one, and since I knew how easy it is to make one myself, I just had to wait for nap time!
How To: I used my large set of foam alphabet stamps, and some very handy Speedball Fabric Screen printing Ink. I spread out a dollop of the ink on a flat old plate, and spread it very thin, then stamped the letters in it like it was a stamp pad (and test blotted them on some scrap fabric). I flattened out the shirt, and put a piece of paper in the shirt (so the ink wouldn’t run through) and stamped away! It was finished in minutes. Once the ink dries, it just needs to be set with an iron for about 4 minutes (with a piece of paper between the iron & shirt, so the iron doesn’t get super inky). If your super crafty, you could use a large erasers and carving tools and carve your own font set, but I’m not that industrious!
Now, if she would only stay still so I could get a photo!

We did it, traded in our big truck for a much more family friendly mini-van. Why, you ask?
Well, it’s near to impossible to get the kid & her car seat in the truck, without throwing out my back. We also go on road trips, quite frequently. I’ve been able to do seat gymnastics, managing to climb over the front seat into the backseat of the cab to entertain the screaming baby while Colton drives, but I don’t think that’s legal! I would much rather, walk to the back seat to entertain the child! Did I mention, it has a DVD player, not sure we’ll actually use it but (We did! The last hour of our drive home from the Great Grandparents after Christmas, it made the ride oh-so-much-more-fun, watching ELF!), it could IS SO nice!
Growing up I loved my grandma’s mini-van, so it’s not like it’s a foreign idea…. but, it still holds a little stigma (like, only soccer mom’s and suburban house wives drive minivan’s).
Maybe we can change that!

Ingredients Include: New Sammy’s Multi-Grain Bread (baked just down the road), lettuce, avocado, sun dried tomato’s, yellow bell peppers, green bell peppers, red onion, whole grain mustard, grape tomatoes, basil, mayonnaise, Cypress Grove Chevre, aged white cheddar salt and pepper.
